Mommy Award!
I finally got the urge to do some fun crafts and teaching with Jonathan again. So, thanks to The Toddler's Busy Book we got some lovely ideas. (Thank you, Meagan, whereever you are!)

Bread Painting (who knew?!) We used milk and food coloring to paint slices of bread, then toasted them and ate them.

• 2 Tbs of milk, 1 drop of food coloring, clean paint brushes, sliced bread (white is best), toaster

Banana cookies!! They taste like banana pudding... I'm not even lying.

• Crush graham crackers in a sandwich bag, add sliced banana and SHAKE! 

Apple Treats- almost as good as apple pie

• Cut apple into bite size pieces; put cinnamon and sugar in a baggie, add the apple bits and SHAKE! (There's a theme here...)

Aquarium

• clear plastic jar, water, glitter, various shiny things like snippets of pipe cleaner and confetti, sheets of foam, scissors, food coloring, strong magnet
• Add water to the jar; add glitter and food coloring; add tiny treasures (shiny things), cut out various ocean animal shapes using the foam and scissors (we made little fishies). Screw lid on tightly and shake it up to watch the aquarium come to life. Added bonus- using pipe cleaners allows you to move them around with a strong magnet. Jonathan had a wonderful time watching the little pieces swim around and follow his finger.

Ladybug Dice Game

• Thanks to Pinterest I found this game that is played like "Beetle". It's a math/art game. It's a little too soon for Jonathan to play without assistance but he CAN count the numbers of dots on the die and he likes to help draw the ladybugs. He loves bugs!

Three Party

• This is played like a tea party. Your child chooses two stuffed animals to have a tea party with- that makes three. You provide three cookies, three crackers, three berries, whatever you want... I think I used pretzels, raisins, chocolate chips and marshmallows! Give each tea-party attendee a cup and have your child count the cups, then have him distribute the snacks, counting as he goes. Then when everybody has all the snacks in their cups, your child gets to eat it all up!
